  • rainy day play with the sigma duo 16mm and 56mm f1.4's

as its yet another rainy day in n.wales I have decided to have a test out of the pair of sigma lenses recently acquired .. the 56mm and 16mm both f1.4 lenses and both weather sealed ? to what degree is untested ...
I did use the 56mm on a night shoot and was so pleased with the results wide open that I bought the 16mm on a whim but im not entirely sure its a lens I want to keep so todays tests ..
apart from the focal length there are two differences the 16mm is huge by MFT standards but it has a minimum focus measured in inches so below are two examples the 56mm taken at over a foot away and the 16mm virtually touching both shot at f2.8

the top photo is the 16mm one . as you know I rarely venture into subjects such as landscape and I don't think the 16mm is going to be a keeper the 56mm will most definitely be staying stopping down with either lens does improve the clarity and it looks like the 56mm tops out at around f5.0 as shown in a more distant shot below .. this is not a scientific test more of putting my own gut feelings into context . I also already have a four thirds 11-22 lens so the 16mm range is covered .looks like its a case of return to vendor

Looks like the right choice for you, the top image is definitely the odd one out in this series.
