Assuming the camera behaves itself (a worry I know you have) and that it does not demand a continental holiday I am sure you will love it! Enjoy!

It's a logical upgrade Jeff. Well done. The OM-1 is so much faster in many ways., and high ISO's works well..

purely a weight issue mark . older age and mobility issues for me have forced the decision

I am sure you won't regret it. New menu system to learn.

Enjoy your new camera Jeff! The OM-1 has been my best camera so far I think.

Mike Lane has done some setup videos recently that might be worth a look

      Hi Jeff

You might find this article a help initially to setup the OM1 adding your own tweaks to suit your style of shooting Look forward to your feedback moving from the EM1X to the OM1

This article is a follow-up to my OM-1 Review. In this post, I go in-depth about the autofocus and stabilisation settings, while giving you examples and tips on how to customise the camera. Please note that, although the following is based around my work with bird photography, I’ve also included ... Read more

It’s twice the or more the camera mark the only reason I’m selling is like yourself I can’t handle the weight on long walkabouts .. the bird / subject I.d on the m1x is a game changer

Did you buy new or used?
Read the other day out of warranty one off repair price is around 550 quid for an OM1
Makes the extended warranty cost when new seem like a good idea.

Sure you won't need it though, enjoy your new camera.

Uncle blackfox, It's a good camera. Lighter than the X but there are some quacks with the OM-1 that is still not fully solved. Don't sell that X as yet till you have fully tested that OM-1.

OM-1 is the way forward. Yes I know that weight issue. I have been fiddling with the EM1mk1 for a few days, It's so small and light compared to that OM1 and EM1iii. I wonder why I didn't get a EM5iii or OM5

Good to hear it arrived ok. Have fun with the setup and early trials.

My experience was that all the garden birds disappeared as soon as the OM-1 arrived, how do they know?!

You're not alone, I've done that out of the box with nearly every Olympus camera I've had. When all photos from the first session out are in super low resolution JPEG it is really frustrating!

first thing I don't like is this stiff usb charging lead might order a JJC battery charger off amazon and a extended eyepiece for shooting into the sun ..and possibly a new strap in the future

I won’t be adding a battery grip mark the whole idea was to reduce the weight carried .might even end up taking the tripod mount off the lens

Yes I understand. I went thru a brief period of needing to lighten up after a bad covid jab. But my shoulder is now 90% recovered, so going back to my original setup. I must say the main weight is the lens.....

It may be that the OM lead is heavyweight to enable firmware updates. There have apparently been failures using non-"official" leads due to data corruption, and David Smith always says to make sure you use the original lead for update.
