It's always been like this. The initial view is most likely going to be resized to fit the page and this will erode image quality slightly. Clicking on the image should show it at 100%, which will always be the best quality.
For Flickr, though, there is an unresolved 'feature' that means clicking on the image probably reveals a blank screen. To work around this you need to go back into your post, using the edit option, do nothing, then save. You will then be able to click on the image successfully. Don't ask me why! The forum developers say there isn't a bug... though the problem only seems to be with Flickr, so they may have a point.
I'd like to remind everyone who uses Flickr (or any other third-party image hosting) again that I can't feature their images on the front page sliding banner - this only works if the image is a file attachment uploaded here, sorry - it's a technical issue.
I've raised the issue with the developers. In the mean time there is a simple work around that takes 5 seconds as I've explained. Quite a few others here posting Flickr images manage OK.
Yes I've been clicking on the pic recently as you say Dave it's much better on a PC. I've noticed in post images seem ok on my phone though. Maybe it's because the screen is so much smaller and the resolution differences are not as noticeable?
A work-around for the Flickr banner and preview issues is to upload a low resolution attachment, insert that then put the Flickr URL link below like this. But you have to click on the link not the photo to see the higher resolution image on Flickr - unless there is a better way?
