  • 1-mkiii-v-M1X differences ?

bar the obvious differences i'm starting to notice subtle differences between the two models , changes that often don't get reported or commented on .i.e the noise levels seem? to be better on the M1X perhaps due to the battery being further away from the sensor .. next and this ones in the processing of the files I tend to always use topaz de-noise as a standard part of my developing method usually on the mkiii files I found that standard de-noise gave the best results by far based on 18 months of usage with the camera .. but I'm now finding than quiet often clear is the best option .
subtle changes but nothing else has changed in my methods .. certaintly noticing that the i.q has taken a large step upwards all I need now is a lottery win to get a OM1 plus a new MAC and I'm up to date 😂🤣

Both cameras use the same sensor. Possibly as you write the design and form factor of the E-M1X have a benefit as the sensor operates at a lower temperature when using the camera intensively, which could affect the noise level.

As you say on paper the performance should be identical but it’s not . Subtle differences but they are there .the bird I.d helps in getting a greater number of useable shots , but as I’ve noticed so far noise levels are also lower and my p.p methods haven’t changed one iota or been updated via firmware etc ..

I’ve also noticed the M1X needs more care with the WB in p.p normally I just leave shots in auto in L.R but a lot are now improved by switching to daylight ,not entirely certain whether this is a improvement or backward step given the 1-mkiii was a later model .but worth noting .

Whatever to date I’m pleased with the results ,whether in time I move on to a OM1 depends on more on reliability of the current body
