Some may remember me commenting that the EVF in the OM1, despite being much higher resolution than the one in the EM1.3, was working out worse for me when taking landscapes. The problem was that on a typical UK day with an overcast but bright sky, the foreground was being rendered so dark that I couldn't see any detail at all. On the EM1.3, this doesn't happen. In fact, the viewfinder appears brighter overall and dark areas hold up well in the same overcast conditions.

I recently thought I'd try the Panasonic S5. That has a 2.36Mp EVF, just like the EM1.3, and about the same magnification. But I found that it suffered the same problem as the OM1 in overcast conditions. So, I decided to go playing around with the settings. I've found that by using the camera in its "flat" photo style, and cranking the EVF contrast right down and brightness right up that I can mostly fix the problem. But it's still not as good as the EM1.3.

Thinking back to other cameras that I've used, I think in fact that the EM1.3 is the only camera that doesn't suffer from this problem.

Any other landscape-type users out there who have opinions on the EVF? I'm curious as to what other people think.

Whatever they have done to the EVF in the OM1 has improved it immensely from my point of view.

A few years ago, I was being fitted for a new set of prescription sunglasses. As they would primarily be used for driving, I decided to have the lenses polarised. Great! - Except that, when I look into the EVF of the E-M1 III (or E-M1 Mk II or E-M1) when using these sunglasses, I see nothing. - Just black! When I look into the viewfinder of the OM1, I can see the lot. A major improvement from my point of view.

Your prescription are polaroid. They are similar to the CPL filters and at certain angles, the LCD is totally black.
