  • Camedia c8080

I now call it `classic GAS`. I do like using my old E system cameras and have branched out by getting hold of a mint Camedia C8080, awaiting delivery. Anyone have any experience of this really interesting looking old thing? Tim

I have two of them. I used them for underwater photography before switching to E-3s and then E-M1s. They have hardly been used, one must have a shutter count of only a 100 or so, the other has a grip fitted.

    Great little cameras.

Edit: Does anyone know how to access the shutter count menu for the C8080WZ? I'm Googling at the moment without much success.

I had one a few years ago that I purchased on this forum. Very nice cameras. I was particularly impressed with the optical performance of the zoom lens.

I always fancied one of these, but ended up getting the Sony DSC-F828 for work. Similar specs I think.

A good friend of mine had one of these at the time I had my Camedia C750UZ. I remember being very envious of it although my friend was also envious of the greater zoom range on the C750. It seemed to have really nice ergonomics and was solidly built. I think he was pretty happy with it anyway.

One review I read just now complained of Image noise at high ISO. In this case they meant above 100 ISO.

          Have fun with it!

I was put off by the awful name, it wasn't until they had a proper name for a camera did I think that Oly produced valid digital cameras.

I too had a C8080WZ and even had the wide angle adapter. I really liked that it had multiple spot metering, just like my OM4Ti.

I think, but not certain, that the shutter count is written in the Exif data.

That's the camera that started me into the world of olympus. I can't say I love it but it's articulated screen was what I looked for when I went into the E-systems.

One thing that surprised me with the C8080WZ was that the ISO could go down to 80, 64 and 50. The only other Olympus camera I have that goes sub ISO100 is the E-M1x and even that doesn't go as low as the 8080. I also still have my C2020 which was my first camera I used underwater.
