  • Don McCullin: Looking for England on BBC iPlayer

I see Don Mccullin's 'Looking for England' is available on BBC iPlayer again until 24th April.

I watched this first time around and very much enjoyed it. I am trying to enhance my appreciation of B&W and found the Don McCullin documentary and the Stanley Kubrick Collection very inspiring.

Thanks Nigel, hopefully watch it tonight, inbetween episodes of Brexit.

Great seeing a 'true' photographer in action with his easy-going chat with his subjects, and his choice of cameras. Even at the age of 83 it's interesting to note he somehow has the strength to carry the FF and MF cameras, in fact two FF when he's shooting 35mm (Canon 5Ds I'm guessing).
What a lovely sound that Mamyia makes, so nice, purely mechanical like a vintage Bentley. Exposure made by experience with a confirmatory look at the light meter now and again. What a star!

"Once photography gets a grip, you're captive."

On the eve of a major retrospective of Don McCullin’s work, the veteran photojournalist and the acclaimed photographer talk about growing up dyslexic, photographing suffering and the toll the job takes
