  • HELP! Scanner Issue

    Hey,

I had a brief foray into film and purchased a brand new scanner ... (canoscan 9000f).

It worked great and a couple of my images are posted on my gallery.

I put the unit away for about a year and got it back out, after moving house now the desktop shows error( cannot communicate with scanner error) it offers a code 2,250.5 or something alternate.
I have two desktops identical wind 7 and 10 and it offers the same problem..

Checked online and downloaded alternate drivers etc...

Does anyone offer any windows advice which might prohibit its use...

    Re: Scanner Issue

I had something similar with a Nikon film scanner. The problem with this one is that the scanner driver software is "unsigned" which I think means that Microsoft don't certify it as safe - and Nikon are not providing any development or support for any of this older stuff.

There is a kludge to get Windows to accept unsigned drivers. Have a look for it, if you can't find anything I will have a dig around in my old installation notes. I did find that the problem sometimes comes back after a big Windows update, which is extremely annoying.

      Re: Scanner Issue

My suggestion would be to post a question on the Rangefinderfurum > scanners > scanner software here: https://www.rangefinderforum.com/for...hp?forumid=148

No need to be a 'Rangefinder' user, the forum is populated with all sorts of cameras and users.

Best of luck and I'm glad to see another who appreciates film.

        Re: Scanner Issue

Not sure if this will work... but has to be worth a try?

        1. From the Start menu, click >Settings, >Devices, >Printers & Scanners.

        2. Towards the bottom of the Printers & Scanners area, turn off Let Windows manage my default printer.

You may have to delete any extra icons of the scanner in the Printers & Scanners menu before reinstalling the scanner drivers,

        3. Once this has been done, reinstall the drivers again.

        Good luck.

            Re: Scanner Issue

You could try looking in the devices list and remove the scanner and reinstall.
