It would be unfair of me to pass on the 7.7 link, but from their email, the 7.7 version will shortly be released...
Dear mark,
"Comments: Thanks for great software. Looking for OMD OM-1 compatibility.:-) "My comment
---It is really nice of you to have sent us a donation. Thank you very much for your support! Here is the latest update(stable, but not released to public yet) that opens ORF OM-1 on Windows 10/11:Faststone reply
So I guess it will come soon. Unsure why they allowed me to use it, maybe just a nice comment along with a donation...
Edit:
It is a free bit of software that really hits the spot. So hopefully this thread will make several/many donations for the people that write it. Making it worthwhile for their efforts...Just to add, I have no association with this company, I am JUST a user, and have no problem with paying money for their time and effort...
Thanks Mark, sounds like 7.7 will be out soon, I've had several notifications from Watch That Page which usually indicates imminent changes. It took years for them to add full colour management, but they finally did it a few versions ago, so I gave them another donation then. So much better when using wide gamut monitors. It's not the prettiest of UIs, but extremely functional and quick.
Hi Mark, I followed your advice, made a small donation of $10 and I asked for the 7.7 version and got it by return.
It's a relief to be able to open my favourite viewing software and view my orf files without having to convert to DNG.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Cheers
Bill
Apart from OM-1 support, looks like there are some useful changes to viewing and managing Raw files, like deleting JPG+Raw as one. Just need an OM-1 now 🤣
Version 7.7(August 24, 2022)
Loads HEIC/HEIF faster by 40% to 100%
Added "Show Dimension" option to Settings -> Thumbnail tab
Added "25%" and "75%" options to the Quick Resize menu
Added an option to Settings -> Programs tab to open external programs using Alt key instead of Ctrl key
In Draw Board, you can now draw objects continuously without having to select the drawing tool repeatedly
For Batch Convert/Rename:
You can now customize the template list for filenames
Added "Keep Screen On" option to the batch processing dialogs
For GPS:
Added a new GPS format DDD° MM.MMMM'
Added "Show in Open Street Map" option
For RAW files:
Supports OM-1 ORF format
Added "RAW Filter" option to Settings -> RAW tab. This option puts a filter on toolbar to show or hide RAW files with a single click
When RAW files are hidden by disabling "View RAW files in" option in Settings -> RAW tab, you will have the following new options:
Handle (rename, delete, copy, move) RAW+JPEG together
Open RAW in external programs
Improved text rendering quality in slideshow
You can now rotate all pages in a multi-page tiff file with a single click
I've been using FastPictureViewer to cull JPG+Raw pairs as one up till now, but will try with Fast Stone. FPV is handy with the quick rollover histogram and details though. In FastStone, you have to mess around with tabs to toggle between histogram and details.
Hmmm, I installed FastStone 7.7, and it seems to be screwing up display of portrait Raw shots. I always shoot Raw+JPG, and the thumbs and full size Raws aren't rotated correctly. I re-installed 7.6 over it, which seems to have sorted it, apart from resetting my prefs! Anyone else have this problem? I've written to FastStone.
Tried again, and 7.7 shows portrait thumbs correctly, but rotated full size Raws. This is using the default Embedded Preview Image. I've reverted to a clean install of 7.6 for now, and saved my prefs which is fine.
