  • Lightroom - iPad/Computer

    Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a major difference between using the Lightroom app on an iPad compared to using the Lightroom application on a PC/Mac?

Also if you Lightroom premium does this apply across both? Currently I have installed the app on my iPad am have a free account to play around with things but the options are limited so looking to upgrade.

Lastly if anyone is aware of any good tutorials for the software, or think using another software would be better then please let me know.

There are two versions of Lightroom. Classic is the original, designed for use on a desktop computer (Mac or Windows PC). Just called 'Adobe Lightroom' is a cloud-centric family of desktop and small-screen device applications. Classic is better in some ways and I, personally, prefer it on a desktop/laptop, but you don't have a choice on a phone or tablet - though Adobe Lightroom is optimised for such devices. So I actually use both!

When the web based version came out I gave it a quick try and found it lacked a lot of features so kept the classic version on the desktop. If you subscribe you get the choice of classic and web based for the desktop and the web based for tablets and phones.

it is really easy to sync between the web versions on each device and I think the web version has caught up with the classic version - so you’re free to use which suits you. I don’t think you need to upgrade to get access to all you just need to download the manager program onto your desktop and choose what you use - I think!! ???

Essential reading, especially her books, some of which are free to download.
