Just checked and I'm using RawTherapee v2.4.1 with ORF files from my E600 and transfering to GIMP and it works fine.
What operating system are you using? I use Windows Vista which is not the best but it handles this. I would have expected a problem with E-600 but not E-620.

Just a thought James, how much memory (RAM) do you have in your computer?

Only 2Gb, I had thought perhaps this is the problem, do you think it could be ?

            Re: Olympus Master Keeps Crashing

There seems to be an ongoing problem with Rawtherapee and XP SP3 related to a DLL incompatibility introduced with SP3 (which did not show to the developers working on SP2), it seems that this problem carries onto the alpha release of RT3.

There is a workaround published in the Rawtherapee forum (found from the home page) which seems to work with varying degrees of success.

It would also appear that if you compile the code on your own machine then that overcomes the problems -see http://www.luci-dani.eclipse.co.uk/, but unless you are familiar with windows development you may not want to try it.
There is also a link to a recompiled archive, haven't tried it so I can't comment.

My experience is that the pre-release candidate for 2.4.1 worked fine (but lacked 620 support), as does the release 2.4.1 provided you are not running sp3.

Not really satisfactory, but that seems to be the situation.

              Hi James

I would have thought 2Gb should be enough tho' I believe these programs are byte hungry. I have only 1.5Gb (will have 4Gb next week in a new computer).

I presume you don't get a window popping up that says you haven't enough memory? If you have Vista, you should have a means of checking your memory to see if any part of it is faulty. Also, how about increasing your 'Virtual' memory on your hard disc and see if this solves the problem. What are the sizes of the files you are trying to move? Have you tried saving the files first and then opening the files in the second program instead of just 'moving' them ?

Another thought, has your graphics card got it's own dedicated memory or it is shared?

              Regards
              Bob

No window popping up saying I have a lack of memory. As for the other things you suggest, I will check them out

I have been trying this over the last couple of days following your post. So far it seems to do a good job with few bugs for a Beta version. Developer seems friendly and open to suggestions. There will be a pro version eventually that will include a noise reduction that he claims will rival Noise Ninja!

                    Re: Olympus Master Keeps Crashing

I had this same problem before. I was also using gimp and ufraw and Oly Master at the time, but since getting Lightroom I rarely use Master.

I believe the problem is that Oly Master is intolerant of some JPEG files. So if you browse to a folder that contains some of these JPEGs, it crashes as soon as it tries to generate the thumbnail preview you get in Oly Master. I didn't bother to work out exactly what about the JPEG it doesn't like, perhaps it is the presence or not of an embedded thumbnail or some other component of the JPEG.

Solution was to not use Oly Master to browse directories that contain these offending JPEGs.

Yes, this is exactly the same problem that I have, I was starting to think it was just me
