  • Firefox 3 - enable colour profile awareness

This is quite a significant feature I think, but Firefox 3, like Safari, is now colour profile aware. However, it isn't turned on by default.

The link above will take you to a very quick tutorial on how to do it - rember to restart between making the change and viewing the test image.

    All the best,
    Phil

This is brilliant! I couldn't believe the difference it made to some of my Flickr images. At last I'm seeing what I see in Lightroom when I process images.

Some recent shots I posted looked horrible on my monitor when I looked at them again - nasty greenish cast. However, they were back to what they should be after switching Colour Management on.

It's a pity Mozilla couldn't have made the switch a bit more accessible, although the procedure is simple enough.

I've uploaded some images to demonstrate sRGB and Adobe RGB image display using Web browsers, see:

Now we've just all got to remember that we have this turned on, but since it isn't default (and IE and afaik Opera don't have this function) others wont. What we see isn't necessarily what others see... bit of a double edges sword for those of us with online galleries.
