HELP! All the text has turned to squares

I was using my netbook a few hours ago and when I returned to the e system site after looking at another site all the text had turned to squares. I then looked at the four thirds site and the same thing happened there. This has only affected the two sites all other sites I have tried are fine.

I have done a scan, no problems reported and rebooted the computer several times, still no luck. I am currently on my desktop which seems fine. There must be a setting I have inadevertantly changed, does anybody have any ideas?

UPDATE
I have just discovered that it ony happens when I use Internet Explorer, if I use Firefox all is fine!

Sounds like a font incompatability problem.
Some fonts have limited characters and if it is not loaded in a programme it just turns everything out as squares.

Shirley - you don't say which version of IE you are using.

Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. On the General tab, click Fonts.

Hi Shirley - this is a bit worrying. I will investigate. I can't say that I can see the problem from here thought. But it worries me that you say it only affects two of our sites...

I was using IE8 but after I developed this problem I upgraded to IE9 thinking that might help, it didn't. I still have the problem on my netbook but at work and on my desktop all is fine so I really do not think it is a site problem, although it is only affecting the two 'e' sites.
I am about to do a system restore so I will see if that works.
