  • I.O Share on iPhone & RAW Images from OM-1 camera?

I have an Olympus OM-1 (Mk.1) & like to shoot/record in RAW. However, when I try to view images through OI.Share on my iPhone 12 (IOS 18.1.1) they don’t show (and yes, I have enabled RAW images on the app).
OM’s own documentation for the OI.Share app says that Raw images should show for an OM-1. Customer support have been typically unhelpful saying its being ‘referred to their technical teams for further investigation’ so I’ll be waiting until hell freezes over for any help from that quarter.
    Anybody else have this problem?
    Thanks

    Hello
In my experience I have been able to download RAW/ORF via I.O. Share app. I haven't tried lately, however, you should be able to import them too. I was doing it from "Import Photos" option on the app, whilst connected to the camera. But to be fair, I haven't done it in awhile.

I don't think Apple have yet sorted the codec out for the OM-1 mk2. Nor the OM-5. The only way to download viewable photos to the Iphone is to shoot Jpgs as well as RAW.

Apple managed to do the biz for the EM series RAW's, just a bit disappointing they can't do the OM series as well....

Agree with this. On iOS (iPhone and iPad) I can download the RAWs from both OM1i and OM5 however I can only process the RAWs from the OM1 and the OM5 are black. It's an iOS thing and until they update their codecs we're out of luck.

I don't know about the iPhone/iOS environment, but I can use RAW files from my Mark 1 OM-1 on OI Share on Android devices. I usually edit them in Lightroom on my phone or tablet when travelling.

I use Apple iPhone IOShare and no problems. I don't know the OM-1 mk2; as I read mk1, I replied as I didn't encounter issues.

Thank you Gigirÿche. Have your tried this recently? What version of IOS software are you on - I was wondering whether based on MJ224's comments whether a later version of IOS software may have messed up the access to RAW files?

These are the version of OIShare and iOS. I don’t have the camera with me, as I am at work, but I’ll try later on and see all the procedures, and see if I can still process ORF on iPhone OIShare.

              Good morning
              I apologise for the delays.
I have tested the procedures for importing RAW/ORF files via O.I. Share app version 1.2.6 on iOS 18.3, and it works fine. Whatever is on the card file wise, gets imported. I have taken couple of screenshots to prove it.

Thank you so much for following up and testing this. I'm bemused now. I wonder what it is on my set up that is preventing the viewing/importing of RAW files.

Unfortunately, according to Apple, iOS 18 still doesn't support the OM-1 Mark II RAW format:

These operating systems include system-level support for RAW images taken by many third-party cameras.

In fact Android 14 in the phone I'm using can't display my Mark 1 Raw files either.

I looked at the OI Share app. It definitely can find RAW files on your camera and import then to your phone or tablet, and display thumbnails within the app.

There are some OI Share settings you might want to check.

I can see thumbnails of ORF files imported and the OI Share editor can edit these files, too. Interestingly, the ORF file doesn't have a thumbnail preview, only a JPEG that is created once you start editing the ORF. It's very confusing.

Thanks Ian, yes I've checked these settings. Your post seem to indicate you can view RAW images before importing - I can't even see them.
