  • Going though a film phase at the moment

I seem to be going through a bit of a film phase at the moment. A selection of shots taken recently with the Kowa Super 66 that I bought last year from John (Zuiko) on Velvia 50...

I hope the Kowa doesn't get jealous but I bought a Hasselblad today. I was looking for a Fuji GA645 rangefinder, but came across a reasonably priced Hassy on the Cameraworld web site and decided to take the plunge. It's a bit of a risk because I haven't even seen photos of it, just had it described to me over the phone. Still, I can always send it back if necessary and it does come with a 6 month warranty. So fingers crossed....

Nice. I don't know if I'll ever shoot a roll or sheet of film again, I've gone retro by resting my 4/3 zooms and using some of my manual focus primes.

Thanks David. I haven't tried legacy lenses on my E-M5 yet. Perhaps I'll have to get a Hasselblad to m43 adaptor.

Nice shots, I stopped using my film cameras two years after I got my first digital camera and I doubt I will use them again.
        Regards Paul.

I stopped using 35mm film about 15 years ago. I'm a recent convert to medium format, though. There is something magical about 2¼ inch transparencies and negatives.

In that case you should see a 5x4 on the light table.

Yes, would like to get into large format at some point. I was looking at a Shen Hao 5x4 recently.

500CM with 80mm/2.8, A12 back, metered prism finder. Also came with a Polaroid back and even a roll of Polaroid film (didn't mention those in the advert, so pleasant surprise).

Hi Roger, I'm glad to see that you're putting the old Kowa to good use, far better than just languishing unused in my drawer. You're getting some nice shots, too, and that Hassleblad seems quite a find!

                          Oooh that is nice.

I still shoot some 35 mm on my OM4Ti cameras, but my real love is medium format.

I have a pair of Mamiya 645 Pro TL bodies with lots of lenses, including leaf shutter lenses, prisms and so forth. For me there is nothing like peering into the huge, uncluttered waist level finder and seeing exactly what you will be capturing on Velvia. Somehow it connects you with the scene in a way that digital cameras don't.

I do also have an E5 and a Canon PowerShot G11 for everyday use, but as an experience, digital just doesn't come close for me.

I came very close to buying a very nice RB67 last year, but my son talked me out of it, as it is a bit hefty to carry around, whilst the M645 is no heavier than the E5.

I used a lot of medium format equipment in the 70's and 80's. I had a Mamiya C330 kit for a while but preferred a work supplies Bronica ETR kit. Never really got on with 'Blads, liked the lenses but got frustrated with the interlocks/sequence of doing things to use them.

Looks a lovely camera. Every so often I get an itch to try medium format, but so far I've resisted ....

More yet, I'd love to try a panoramic camera if anyone's offering?
