Just a couple of Black Headed Gulls down at the Knapp at Cardiff.

In good light, the lens works reasonably well, but these have had quite a lot of PP'ing

DXO Pure RAW, then attacked by Lightroom and Topaz Sharpener or DeNoise. DeNoise tends to flatten the image a little, and Sharpener makes them a bit crisp.

Kit used was the OM-5 with the 75-300mm. Photos cropped as well....

I'll have another go later, but the OOC RAW's do need significant processing...

Not bad. I think it has smoothed out any feather detail with the PP perhaps. How much did you need to crop these Mark?

I’ve got some good results with the lens using it as a lightweight option for long walks. I missed being able to add the 1.4x TC to get the 420mm though.

I reckon it needs a close subject for the best results, same with other lenses though. I’m always having to try and perfect my creeping up on things skills

The distance varied a bit, but one of my PP's photos came from this. The OM-5 is not quite as nifty for BIF's as the OM-1

This photo details...1/3200 sec. ISO 3200 and F7.1. The detail was already lost at the photo stage I think

o.k unfortunately in the last shot you can see the sky replacement through the wing feathers it also gives a halo around the bird which led to my initial over sharpening comment... it also doesn't give that good a impression of the lenses capabilitys.. sorry to sound harsh mark just trying to help

Nice Jackdaw Mark, probably the commonest bird in our garden.

The 70-300 is not too bad, I was certainly happy with it before moving upmarket. Here is a willy wagtail at 300mm put through my normal post processing (DXO pureraw3, light room levels, minor crop). I blew out the highlights with its white chest in the sun but I can't blame the lens for that.

Lovely photos. I wonder whether the little problem I had was more down to the OM-5 rather than the lens. ISO is not as goos as the OM-1...
