Product Availability Update
Olympus B&H # OL15040045
M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm f/4.5 TC1.25X IS PRO Lens
Surely B&H is an American company , and that probably means they’re no longer selling / stocking the lens … I honestly doubt that OMS is stopping there best sellin* lens
If you look at the B&H website the Olympus 150-400 is listed as discontinued but there is a OMDS 150-400 listed - so guess they're just updating their website to reflect the new/current company naming conventions (there are pages and pages of old discontinued Olympus lenses on their website too).
I just wonder how realistic their "Temporarily Out of Stock - Expected availability: 2-4 weeks" comment on the "new" OMDS lens is?? It does sound like availability from some NA dealers is far quicker than the UK and had/have considered possibility of buying one (or having one bought for me) from somewhere like B&H given the lead time for UK delivery. Anyone else done or considered the same?
I just went to the Aus omds site to 'reserve' a lens, and then received an e-mail saying 'a shipment is coming in this month - order one if you want to get one this month'. So now I am substantially poorer and full of anticipation. Had expected a much longer wait.
I know what you mean! Hoping the lens lives up to the hype.
The problem is that when the lens arrives, it will become abundantly obvious that the problem with my images isn't what is at the front of the camera.
I purchased from the wonderful Chiswick Camera Centre - yes there was a wait, but not as long as some seem to be experiencing. I waited about 8 weeks or so.
Thanks to Nick's heads up I contacted Chiswick Camera Centre yesterday & just got this reply:
"Hi Chris. Sorry for the delay in reply, I shall put you down on our list, in first place believe it or not. We just had some come in and cleared our orders. Production has been stepped up and I am led to believe they will be coming through more regularly, I will try and get an approximate ETA and let you know.
Thanks. Andy"
Of course their next delivery might not be for another 6 months but if accurate the comment about increased production is hopeful. Finger crossed and maybe get a shift on trying to sort out my finances
