Free MC-20 promotion offer on 300mm or 40-150mm f2.8 Pro purchase
I notice on the Olympus Shop web page you link to there is an Other Ongoing Promotions link to £175 cashback on the OM-1 and OM-5 which might also interest people.
Can't I just have a discounted MC-20 as I already have the 40-150mm?

They are by a mile the best 2x TC I've ever owned. TBH I don't think they are far off the 1.4 in terms of performance albeit with the extra stop penalty. Not sure if they suffer from individual quality variation but mine is certainly excellent.
Very much agree with antpitta. On my 300 you couldn't tell the difference between the 1.4 and the 2.0. In truth, when used on my 150-400, there is a slight fall off but compared to the output from my old Nikon 2x telle it's chalk and cheese.
What lens would that be then? Have you used the MC-20? I'm not having a go, I'm genuinely interested because the MC-20 is probably about the best 2x teleconverter of any format/brand at the moment with very little fall off in IQ.
But surely - either buy a MC-14 and crop (only losing 1 stop and less image quality) - or buy a longer lens in the first instance?
I didn’t think I was going to get any reaction! My casting a line has at last had an effect
My only thought was that rather than a 40-150mm with a 2x converter, would a 100x400 be a better alternative? I suppose if you’re a bird photographer the answer would be yes, if not the answer would be no.
