  • Vignetting on 40-150mm

    Hi All
I've been playing about with my 40-150mm recently, as it's a new purchase for me.

I've found that at the top end, I'm getting some vignetting?! Is this typical of the lens?

I did have the lens hood on however...could this be causing it?

    Here's an example:

Is it the new type 40-150, ie, f4? I think these come with a petal-shaped lens hood. It could be that it isn't fully clicked home. Try turning it clockwise until it clicks. This is a common occurence on the 14-42 kit lens with a similar type of lens hood.

Yes, it's the new one f4-f5.6. It actually came with the tubular hood, not the petal one. Incidently, the pic above was taken at F5.6

I've had a look at some of the other shots, and there doesn't seem to be much evidence of the problem - so I guess you're probably right. I seem to recall fiddling with the hood at one point.

I found this link interesting is relation to this lens. It suggests the amount of shading should be rather small, so I'm going to go with the dodgy lens hood.
