Looks good.
I’m thinking of getting one myself, but weighing up which to go for between this and the panny 100-300. It’s deer rut time this month too, so I’m sure I’d find a use for one!

Thanks, i think the 100-300 will have quicker focus but i needed an Olympus lens to be able to use pro-capture low

Nice shots mik, I especially like the clarity of the second one. I had a 75-300 some time ago but it got nicked. Just never got round to replacing it after I got the 40-150 +1.4TC but I do miss that longer reach. I didn't realise it worked with the pro capture mode though, thanks for that info.

Nice photos with clear details and colours in the feathers, sharp. I bought one from Mark last year and have used it for the butterfly photos in Africa. I did not know about Pro Capture and will now look into this. I left it behind in Nairobi and brought the 14-150 with me for travelling. I am still undecided about getting a lens for macro or a lens for wide angle whilst I am in the UK, or leave it until next year as I am still learning about the 75-300 and its possibilities. Have fun

Very nice. Having recently sold my 300/4 for lack of use and feeling pretty much the same over the 40-150/2.8 which I still have, I think I may sell that too and pick up a 75-300 for the few times I need this focal length.

I’ve jumped on the bandwagon (partly inspired by this thread) and my 75-300ii arrives tomorrow.

I will definitely try it out this weekend, and have a herd of red deer up on the moors in mind, especially as it’s rutting season. Hopefully I can get close enough and I guess they’ll be easier to focus on the BIFs, even with my Em10ii, but we’ll see!

Is this lens usable enough hand held? I was thinking of trying the monopod leg from my tripod but not sure if it’s necessary.
Whilst thinking about monopods, would you have the IBIS switched on, as per hand held use, or off akin to tripod use?

I only use hand held so cant say about IBIS and monopds,if you want to use it at 300mm you wil need to keep the ISO down it seems to help with apparent sharpness.

So the lens arrived a couple of days ago and today I went out to give it a bash, pretty much my first ever attempt to photograph anything at these sort of focal lengths - especially wild moving targets

It was a very overcast day, with rain showers meaning the camera spent a large amount of time under my jacket and I had the ISO cranked up to 1000 most of the time. I'm clearly no wildlife photographer but enjoyed the day thoroughly, managing to find 3 separate groups of red deer, with the stags calling out for rutting season. I only fell down 3 times too!

In between the rain showers I managed to stumble across the moor and find this fella! Around 250mm, taken at 1/500th, f6.5, iso1000
