  • Sigma C 150-600 on EM-1

I received my copy of this lens today, primarily for use with my 7Dmk2 but also for use with the EM-1 + metabones (if it happened to work)

It looks ridiculous on the EM-1 and even with the battery grip is very front heavy (no surprise there ) and is definitely not a lens to let dangle unsupported for fear of damaging the lens mount

But - first brief tests indicate that not only does is seem to focus very quickly in SAF mode but its also appears pretty accurate and, to my surprise, first indications are that it is sharper at 600mm wide open on the EM-1 than it is a 600mm f8 on the 7Dmk2

As this lens is intended for "terrestrial" subjects not BIF work this is, if confirmed by more testing, a real bonus

Its a blooming great lump of a thing though, just about hand-holdable but I suspect its going to spend most of its time on a tripod or monopod

They look really good Brian. I wasn't expecting anything as good as that. Looks like you've got your technique nicely sorted. Actually just looked at some of your Flickr shots and that Catkin shot is particularly impressive. Really good.

Thanks, apart from being a bit of an unbalanced lump its pretty easy to use on the EM-1 with grip.

The Windsurf work is off the tripod but all the other is hand-held (its totally unbalanced on my monopod so I have given up on that for the moment)
