Re: Which Lens Hood for the 75mm f1.8?
I have the JJC version and it is a superb hood, comes in metal with a locking screw so robust and does the job perfectly.
A great cost effective alternative the the overpriced Oly version ( still maintain that they should sell all lenses with hoods like Panasonic do).Ian from the Cotswolds

Re: Which Lens Hood for the 75mm f1.8?
Thanks Guys,
I've found an old 58mm rubber lens hood in my oddments box (left over from my Canon days) so I'll try that first - even though it's only a standard length it'll be better than nothing!
I agree that Olympus are taking the mickey by charging the earth for lens hoods when others (like Panasonic etc!) include them with the lenses. But I've heard they are now supplying them for the Pro series lenses so perhaps there's hope yet?

Another vote here for the JJC hood. It's very well made, is quite deep and matches the lens well aesthetically. It's in a different league to their plastic cloned hoods (e.g. the one for the 45 which doesn't really fir properly).

Re: Which Lens Hood for the 75mm f1.8?
Could someone with a JJC LH-61F lens hood confirm how it attaches to the lens please? I can see that it has a thumbscrew that is tightened to hold it on the lens barrel, but how does this actually work? I'm assuming it is not just the point of the screw being pressed against the lens as that would seem to be a recipe for making dents on the lens barrel! So does it have some kind of pressure pad to spread the impact perhaps? (A photo of the back of the lens hood would be great as I can't inspect one before ordering it from Amazon!)

Chris, inside the hood is a metal strip that follows the curve of the hood. The screw pushes that strip against the lens barrel along its length so that any pressure from the screw is spread and not applied solely at the point of the screw.
I hope that makes sense, I haven't had the chance to use mine yet.

Re: Which Lens Hood for the 75mm f1.8?
Thanks David,
After I asked the question I found a detailed video on U-Tube which showed the 75mm lens and the Olympus version of the lens hood. It sounds like the JJC is identical
The only adverse comment on the video about mounting the lens hood was that there was a slight metal-on-metal scraping as it was placed on the lens. I've got the black version of the lens so I'm hoping that won't get marked at all. Perhaps it depends on how loose the screw is when you put it on?
Anyway, I think I'll put one on my Christmas present list nowChris

Good point about the scraping, I shall now put some tape along the metal strip. My lens, not yet used is also black.
Let's hope Santa does the needful

The JJC hood is great for the 75mm. It is of great quality, costs about a third of the Olympus original and looks exactly the same. Some users claimed that the JJC hood has a slightly different shade of silver compared with the lens itself but try as I might I could not make this out. Just in case my 6- year old eyes were deceiving me, I showed them to my 21 year old niece and she could not see any difference in shading either.

In fact, I do not have a single Olympus original hood except for the built-in one for the 7-14mm f2.8 Pro. All my Olympus lenses have JJC hoods except for the 45mm f1.8; in that particular case both the Olympus original and JJC are awkward because they require the front ring to me removed to fit the hood. I have the perfect alternative - Dorr's light metal screw-in 37mm hood.
