Can anyone confirm if the Oly 70-300 4/3 lens supports Contrast Auto focus (CAF) and will work with the mFT cameras for fast focus. It appears that it does, at least the Panasonic lens compatibility chart says so but just want to confirm.
Version 1.2 - 18.03.2009
- Contrast AF is available if it is supported by the camera. (To secure the focusing accuracy, focusing is may be slow at the super-tele position, depending on the object situation)
After breaking through the technology barrier,
you run into the barrier of accepted wisdom.
According to Olympus it is one of the lenses that supports Contrast AF.
I've used mine in live view mode quite a few times after updating the firmware and it worked very well, as here on the E-30 using LV and just putting the camera on the ground.
1/10s f/16.0 at 190.0mm iso200
Strangely enough I may be selling mine soon as I maybe down sizing my equipment.
Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.
Hmmmm, it's about the same size as the Panasonic 100-300 mFT lens but about half the price second hand....and since I now have a redundant mFT - FT adaptor it makes sense to get one, the only downside is I don't get the OIS the Pani lens has but I can live without it I think.
Send me a PM when you are selling with the details.
