thought i would see if any fresh firmware was around for M10ii so connected up to the software, camera and lens showed up . Nothing for camera but lens was highlighted so pressed update .it ran and then OMG up came NG on the screen in big letters .Quick disconnect thinking i had bricked the camera but that was fine just the lens completely non functional. So moral of the story don't update Panasonic lens on Olympus software or think before you act

I'm suprised it did that. I thought you were supposed to be able to do the updates as you did. Maybe a chat with Panasonic and /or Olympus to check.

looking on internet there have been instances of this happening between various Panasonic lenses and Olly camera. Someone sent a lens back to Panasonic for repair and was told not viable as $1000 plus. Just won an Olly 14-42 mk2 R lens for £51 so will use that for now and look to something better when funds permit

Panasonic do have a pretty shocking reputation for repairing their gear. Olympus on the other hand have a very good repair reputation. As the issue was due to a firmware update then I'd have thought it ought to be a free repair. However, as it's the lens that needs fixing then it doesn't bode well.

if it had been a very expensive lens then maybe worth persuing but will not be doing it again. Someone suggested that because the two companies update firmware using different methods glitches could occur.

Sad to hear that. I have several panny lenses and I have not done any updates using my Oly body. in fact, none of my panny lenses needed any updates.

Really sorry to read about your 12-32. I noticed that there was an update for my 10-25 and decided to go to the Panasonic website to check it out. Updating via the .bin file which was copied to a SD card caused no issues with a E-M1 III mercifully. I was not previously aware that updating Panny lenses on Olympus bodies could be problematic. It would appear that OIympus and Panasonic use different protocols for updating, with the latter preferring the older method of using the SD card as the data transfer medium,
