    That's the exact same problem as mine. The flexi-strip is broken. When you are at 12mm, the connection is intact. When you increase the focal length, the strip moves and the connection is lost.

        Olympus did that with me - I had a minor grumble about the cost/hassle of sending it off without knowing if the repair would be cost effective and at that point they offered free collection and delivery and arranged for a courier to come and collect it. As it had to go to Portugal, the fact you are in Jersey probably wouldn't affect it much.

        Having said that, if you have a local repairer who is prepared to fix it (and guarantee the repair) for not much more money than Olympus, it would seem to be the easiest option.
