Advice re macro m43 please.

Having nearly moved across to micro 43rds for all my photography I now wish to purchase a macro lens. Currently I use the 43rds 50m lens, which I love, along with an adapter but it is bulky and would love a similar lens in m43rds. I know the 60m gives a macro option, is this my best option or is there something else I am missing? Would the 60m give similar IQ to 50m?

I too have this dilemma! I use the 35mm, 50mm + EX25 and even an old 80mm OM Macro on the Bellows. All exceptionally good at home for table top work, but far from ideal out and about.

Depending on the IQ that you want, and I can only believe that you want the very best, have you tried a supplementary lens on the front. I did a very quick test and while the edge was a bit soft the center was reasonable.

I'm thinking of getting one from eBay and if it isn't what I want, I will sell it again and look on any loss as a "Hire Fee"

If we could only get another group outing arranged, I'm sure some kind sole would let you have use of there's for a while.

I have looked at 60mm reviews, it seems to come out quite well.
I could hire it from Ian....if I decided to buy it I would then get a discount.
Its not something I need to rush into and would probably sell my fav. 12 -60 lens to fund it.
In the meantime I will look into supplementary lenses.

The 60mm is really, really sharp. I only sold mine because I discovered that I didn't have the "eye" for macros, and it was too close to my existing 45mm and 75mm lenses.

I do have an "Opteka" 10x supplementary lens, 58mm fit, which I tried once and, again, couldn't get the eye in, but which is apparently well regarded. I'd be willing to let that go if you were interested? PM me if so.

The 60mm is so sharp you can cut yourself on it, here is a great review which just might persuade you to purchase.

I would keep your 60 and use it with an adaptor. I doubt you will find anything as sharp as the 60. itried to 12-50 with macro facility, whilst its very good it isn't as sharp as the 35 macro.

Shirley, if it's of any use to you, I'm selling a 58mm Sigma achromatic macro lens adapter thingummy...let me know if you're interested. I bought it a while ago, but I've only ever used it once...

Shirley, what Janet has is a very high quality close-up filter with a 58mm thread. Could be just the thing......

It is too large for most MFT primes and slow standard zooms, but you could always use a step-up ring. It would actually suit me, if I wasn't saving every penny for a short trip to Scotland, as my Panasonic 14-45mm has a 52mm thread and my 40-150mm m.Zuiko has a 58mm thread. I already use 58mm filters on the 14-45mm with a step-up ring.

The mft 14-50 has a 58mm thread as well, and also takes the the MCON-P01 macro converter.
