  • Are ED & EZ the same thing

I've advertised a 40-150mm 4-5.6 ED kit lens on Amazon, have just noticed that Amazon refer to this as an EZ. Is this the same lens?
    Thanks matt

Thanks, looked at the Olympus site and as far as i can see they only mention the ED, so hence my confusion, or, wrong glasses.

'EZ' is most likely a typo. But check which 40-150 you're looking at. The earlier one (which is a pretty good lens) has maximum aperture range of f/3.5-4.5. This is brighter than the later 40-150 f/4-5.6 and does mean it's a bigger and heavier lens, but it does have a metal lens mount. Both versions of the 40-150 perform well.

'ED' means Extra low Dispersion and refers to more exotic glass used in some of the lens elements. It helps the lens to be sharper at wider apertures.

I notice that the lenses are named EZ when part of a boxed kit.

Ah - OK, that refers to an E-System Zoom lens.

The 14-54 is does not use ED glass, incidentally, so it would not be labelled 'ED' anyway.
