I'm curious whether anyone with either an OM-5 or one of the E-M5 bodies is using this lens. I'm sorely tempted by its versatility and IS but, I'm concerned that it might be too long/heavy for the smaller bodies.

12-100mm f/4 PRO On OM-5 Or E-M5...

I have neither the OM-5, nor any of the E-M5 bodies. - I have the OM-1 with the E-M1 Mk III as a backup / spare. However, I do still have an original E-M1 body, which is by far the smallest of the E-M1 series bodies. I have attached the 12-100 to the E-M1 and had a bit of a play.
My take on it is that the 12-100 does add a bit of weight to the combination, but that it doesn't appear to be unbalanced. Possibly this is because my standard way of holding any camera with the 12-100 attached is by having my left hand underneath the lens cradling it and operating the zoom, while my right hand is used for everything else.
Why not go down to your local camera store and see what the combination feels like in your hands? If it does feel a bit too bulky and unbalanced to you, then I suggest that you look at the small, light and compact Oly 12-45mm f/4 PRO, which is also weather sealed with the IQ (image quality) that you would expect of an Olympus / OMSystem PRO lens.Larry Griffiths

I have recently sold an E-M5III and found this lens Ok but with the addition of an accessory (Haoge) grip. The 12-100 fits much better on the chunkier OM-1. On the smaller bodies I feel the 12-45/4 plus 40-150/4 combo works brilliantly.

I have the E-M5iii and the 12-100. I don’t find it too bad and I also don’t have the grip.
I don’t shoot with a larger E-M1 size body so I’m used to holding longer lenses with my left hand on smaller body cameras anyway.Flickr https://flickr.com/photos/197765504@N02

I know I would not have a problem with this combination myself, but we are all different! The best advice is to try a 12-100 on an OM-5 or the identical size E-M5 Mark III, for yourself.Originally posted by dnbush View PostI'm curious whether anyone with either an OM-5 or one of the E-M5 bodies is using this lens. And a warm welcome to you here!

I have used the 12-100mm with the OM-5. No problem really, I am resisting the additional grip, as I want to keep the weight down.
I am liking the OM-5, plenty of features, and have been very pleased with the results.

I'm not at home currently and won't be for a while otherwise I would do just that. I also have the 12-45 f/4 and the 40-150 f/4 so I'm pretty well covered in that range but I'm just thinking about the single lens convenience and the IS.Originally posted by griffljg View PostWhy not go down to your local camera store and see what the combination feels like in your hands?
