  • Summer Cash Back, trouble anticipated.

I submitted a claim yesterday for my £100 cash back on a 12-45 lens.

    The form is shown here…….

As you will notice on the RH side it asks…….
’Please confirm your contact details below and it asks for…'First name and last name’

You will also notice that at the bottom it states…….
The name provided on the form has to match with the bank account owner name’

    Now here’s the trouble anticipated…….

The name I have given does not match the account owners name because I have a joint account with my wife.

The account does not have first names, just our initials.

I entered my first name and last name in the relevant boxes but they do not match the account holders name.

The submission was accepted and I was given a reference number, at least I'm in the system.

    Watch this space.

My debit card only has my own name on it although it is a joint account, like yours. I would be surprised if the system could not cope, unless, perhaps the two account holders used different surnames.

Yes, Ian so does mine, but no first name just initials ie D.W. Lastname.

The form requires a first and last name.

It would have been better if they just asked for the account name.

        Well, let's see what happens.

Hi Dave, I've never had any issues with the Sony cashback schemes over the years and we have always had a joint account with no formal 'full names' on it. Hopefully their 'Ai' can learn it quickly enough!
Good luck and best regards, Neil

Well at least you got that far, I can’t even get the completed form to load.
Have contacted OM but not heard back after 2 days.

When you say 'load' - what happens? Which web browser do you use? Are you using and ad-blocking or a VPN that could interfere in some way? Have you tried a different browser or different device?

Much as I like Firefox for browsing, it doesn't cope with some pages and I have to switch to either Chrome or Edge to get some forms to work.

Sorted now, my fault, my bank Chase does not do Swift payments and that was required.
So I have had to use our joint account, hopefully the joint names won’t cause a problem.
            Thanks for your input.

Just like to say that it worked OK for me. I claimed for 2 cash backs this time and the funds are in my bank. Took just under three weeks in total.
