Google them. They come out with mixed, often dubious, reviews. Personally I wouldn't touch them. There are better grey importers around.

Ah the perenial "grey import" conundrum.

I haven't seen it mentioned on this site but I recall reading elsewhere that from this month Olympus are effectively stopping issueing "worldwide warranties" and only issueing local/regional warranties. I believe this is an attempt to stifle the tax/duty avoidance of the "grey" market.

This link to the Olympus UK website suggests that this is the case.

      Regards.

George Osborne would be most impressed!
I guess Olympus are attempting to keep their European suppliers sweet and competitive.

Plus at the moment if you buy legit copy and register it you get a extta 6 months guarantee making a total of two and a half years worry free use. I don't think I've ever kept a camera longer than that since going digital.

            Re: SLR Hut

When a Pentax user (not that long ago!) I bought a DSLR body from SLR Hut, having previously bought a lens from them. The orders do not go through straight away and they phoned me from a USA call centre the next day to 'confirm the details'. What they really wanted was to sell overpriced extras such as batteries, extended warranties and 'faster' delivery. I had read about this so was ready for them. A simple no thanks was sufficient. They are USA based so items are often US versions.

Both the items I ordered arrived in just over a week with good access to parcel tracking details and were perfectly OK with no duties or VAT paid by me. The lens did later develop a fault but I reported this to them and was told to send it to their UK address for repair. It was dealt with at a UK approved repairer and sent back directly to me although it did take 3 weeks. I don't know if it was done under the manufacturer's worldwide warranty or SLR Hut's own however they only state that warranties are 1 year.

All in all I was happy with them and prices are often very competitive. Some of their prices are far from competitive so be careful!!

              Re: SLR Hut

I've not used them but I have used Simply Electronics which is a similar organisation.
They have ISO9001 Quality certification....so they are audited independently which I respect as Im involved in the certification industry. Keep in mind they don't have massive shelves full of stock....they do import at the best prices they can....and the delivery might not be swift.
These organisations do a great service and challenge the silly mark ups that UK retail exploits us for.
I bought my original E-P1 and lenses and a Canon 24-105 with no problems whatsoever.
You have a bit more risk....but not a lot and you save lots of money. Just my thoughts.

DigitalRev is another option if you want to go this route. They are reputable organisation. Warranty issues are handled by them.
