  • First film result!

The lab scans from my film developed this week have finally arrived - only JPGs canned to 6.5 megapixels. I'll rescan on the Epson V750 once the negs arrive with me. Quick reminder, this is A̶g̶f̶a̶p̶a̶n 400 (correction, not Agfapan, but Agfaphpoto APX 400), shot on the OM-2N that Gerry gave me. Gerry - there is a slight light leak - I will check the seals once the Fomapan 100 that's in the camera is finished.

So sorry to read about the light leak, I do hope that it isn't serious.

It's not in alll the frames but it's in about the same place. I'll post an example shortly. I did wonder if it was the processing company. I'm processing the next film myself - chemicals arrived today!

2 out of three of these are fogged towards one corner, but one isn't. It's very odd!

My daughter told me off for de-graining this:

With black and white film, how much of the grain should one smooth out? I know it's subjective and a matter of personal taste, but I'd be curious to know what you think.

The grain in first pic does look somewhat excesive, even for iso 400. I better go check some of my old B&W scans...........

I will receive my negs in a day or two and scan them myself. I wonder if the scans sent to me have been over-sharpened by the lab.

There is attractive and complementary grain and there is ugly grain! I'll reserve judgment on the results I've received once I've seen the actual negatives from my film. The examples I've shown in this thread are from JPG scans provided by the lab. I wonder if they haven't been sharpened very well.
