Flash issues ??

I normally have the flash switched off so that it doesnt go off when I am not expecting it.
However, today I wanted a bit of flash but I could not get it to work
I have double checked everything and and even the AF illuninator doesn't work, it pops up but no efort to fire .
the only thing is I have lost the little blanking plate that fits over the flash shoe/socket . Surely this is not the problem is it ??

1st up, the little plastic flash cover will not cause you problens.
2ndly, what flash setting are you using?

the af assist flash will only fire if there is not enough light.

have you disableed the af assist in the menu?

I have tried lots of flash settings with no joy and tried the af assist in a dark cupboard on 3 different lenses
the af assist is on in the menu
do the bulbs in the on board flash break ?

strange.i
n theory the flash unit could fail, but i have never seen it happen.

have you reset the camera? have you flashed the camera?

you may need to contact olympus for a repair (assuming it is still in warrante)

Tried a reset .
The flash will not fire
af assist makes no attempt to fire
I have a full uk warranty I just don't want to say goodbye to it for any length of time .
do oly have loaners

If you have paid to join their pro club, then they occasionally have loan kit.

I suggest calling Olympus technical support to see if they can help you.

If you have only just purchased the camera from a shop, then you may be able to get them to swap out the faulty camera for you.

I don't want to be the harbinger of gloom, but my 510 died on holiday whilst in Germany. It went to Park Cameras was away for 4 weeks and returned with exactly the same fault
