I am sorry to hear of your problems with the E30. Have you looked at thw Wrotniak site http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/43/e30-samp-iso.html ?
The samples he has produced look fine up to ISO 400 and get progressivly noisy from ISO 800. I don't think they are any worse than the E3 and looks to be mainly chroma noise which is easily removed.
I don't know if you already have it but the Neat Image noise removal utility is very good.
Sorry, not much help I know but perhaps someone else with the E30 will answer your post soon.
Good luck
Yes I bought an E-30 afew days ago & posted a message on here to say it suffers from bad noise (compared to an E-3). Ian was going to do his own test into this problem, but I don`t know what conclusion he came to! I still go out every day with my 2 E-3 bodies as I dont think the results of my E-30 are good enough for my work as a freelance photographer. Im very sorry to say that my E-30 is heading for ebay!
Thanks for the replys guys, I went out today and took some portrait shots and came back with really good results and noise free pics, I was using mainly ISO100 mind.
It might just be me expecting fantastic things after spending the money the e-30 costs and the 410 was giving such good pics that there is not much of un upgrade in image quality. The features of the e-30 are amazing though, just wish the images jump out at me more as better quality
I'll do more testing and report back
I have also invested in noiseware pro plugin for photoshop, to see if that will help when needed
Thanks again !

These are some images taken last night, using the E30 with 35-100. All processed in Capture One 4, default settings. No other NR or sharpening used.
ISO 1600
ISO 1250
ISO 1250
ISO 1250
And this with a 35-100, is a crop of an ISO 800 shot from a concert on Saturday - how these compare with an E4XX or E5XX or E3 I can't say, but I don't have any concerns myself, and they clean up anyway for me in Noiseware.
Sorry but the images are not loading, can you re-upload them - thanks - Steve
Strange - they all loaded for me. So I tried copying from the pBase page URL and nothing showed. So went back to copying the URL from properties - and it seems to load OK again on my laptop .... any ideas what's going wrong?
Yes strange im just getting a red cross in a box, im going out today to take some shots I'll try uploading some later for you to see if mine works and then you can compare with yours - thanks

Looks like the images have hot link protection and so won't embed into a post here. If you access the images directly (via the image urls) they will show properly, these images will then get cached on your computer so when you re-visit the post here your computer realises it already has a temporary copy of this image stored so doesn't try to download the image again instead it displays as an embedded image as you would expect.
Only real answer is to either host the images somewhere else where hotlink protection isn't enabled or simply place the url of the image in the post so people can visit the images on the hosts page instead of trying to embed an image in the post.
Just taken a series of shots with strong backlighting of some herbs on our kitchen window sill using the E-30 with an Oly 18-180 lens. Shots taken at ISO 200, 400, 800, 1600 & 3200. Bearing in mind I am comparing these to ones shot on my E-1 they look fine up to 800 and I was even pleasantly surpised at 1600 but 3200 was very noisy. The noise/grain from the 1600 looks a lot better than prints I remember getting off Iso 1600 film from Fuji some years ago. I used ESp mode and got a fairly underexposed image which was easily doctored on PS.

If you copy from the pbase url you need to put it in Image Brackets and add the .jpg extension.
My E-30 should arrive tommorow.
Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.
Could you please take a look at the below images and let me know if you think the quality is ok, if they are then it will put my mind at rest and I know its down to my photography skills and not the camera
Both are taken at ISO200, but I find the one with the kids has a high level of noise even at ISO 200
Oh and Rich I can see your pics now - many thanks - yes yours look fine at those levels, I think mine are on par with your levels, so its me just being picky I think

I think the problem with the second image is down to the bright sky as a background to the subjects. Where was the sun in relation to the subjects and your camera?
Have you processed the image in an editor or is this as it came out of the camera?
