  • OM-3, material for silver bits?

Can't seem to find an answer to this.

Are the silver top and bottom plates....metal painted, plastic painted or what.

    I've never had a silver M4/3 camera...never.

All the silver ones I've ever seen seem to get scratched-up with black showing through....looks nasty.

The body is die-cast magnesium alloy. It's dark grey unpainted. That might look black if any applied finish is scratched off.

If it's anything like the Pen-F, although the top and bottom plates are metal, the silver finish is paint.

Apparently OM System have said they have no plans for a black OM3. It’s on this JP site which my browser translates.

The source is an interview with some OM System product people.

I'd be very surprised if a black version didn't appear sooner or later - the film OM-3 looked gorgeous in black and the new one would too. In fact the black film OM-3 was more prevalent. They'd be crazy not too do one.
