  • HELP! Dust on my PenF

Never had to deal with dust before on an Oly, but my PenF seems to be plagued with it. Can't see any on the sensor and it is in same places with different lenses.Been there weeks.
    Any suggestions?

    Re: Dust on my PenF

When checking for sensor dust I set the lens aperture to the minimum opening, defocus (easy with a MF lens) and take a picture of a homogenous scene, such as a clear blue sky, or a sheet of white paper.
    Are you doing that?
When you say you can't see it, are you using a sensor loupe?
I have found a blast with a rocket blower very good at removing dust; sticky stuff needs a wet clean.

Hi I was not defocusing, but focusing on something near to and then pointing at the sky. It shows up really clearly that way. No, using the Mk1 eyeball with an ordinary loupe. But I suspect someone cracked it for me and got it to clean. Simply turning upright while switching on. Will test results tomorrow,
      Thank.

Wet cleaning isn't that difficult if it comes to it. I probably clean my Oly cameras at least once a year.

Seems really bad now so I'm going to have to give up hoping Oly's system clears it and buy a kit. Very surprised I have to do it with an Oly.

Doesn't surprise me at all for a shot of the sky at f22. In fact, I think your sensor is probably cleaner than mine!

The dust shaker will remove dust, but anything sticky - pollen, spit, water splashes/rain, ... will need mechanical removal. I think the Oly system works very well, but there are limits.

Actually a brush has removed all but one spot. I'm waiting for a more powerful blower. It does seem to be loose dust. I think I asked before, but does the PenF really have the very effective shaker I remember on the E510?
