I've nearly lost this a few times, seem to catch it on things and flip it off. Anyone else have this problem - any solution?

Re: Cover for hot-shoe
This isn't an answer really, but what are they for? I preserve mine by taking them off the camera as soon as I unpack it and leaving them in the box. They never go back on the camera until I sell it
Thereafter the hot shoe is open to the elements, but that's no problem. I do use my various flash guns on occcasions so I am glad the shoe cover is not fitted. The only small downside is you can catch your jacket on the hot shoe sometimes....
Hot shoe covers? Just say no...
Lens caps. Aaah. Now that's another story entirely :-)
Pete
PS. Spare hot shoe covers: Luton Cameras apparently....Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

Re: Cover for hot-shoe
At the risk of sounding an idiot, FWIW, on my E-3, I have my hot shoe cover mounted the opposite way round to how it was when I bought the camera about 15 months ago, i.e with the arrow shape pointing forward. I'd noticed how easily it slid off and on my particular camera, and there is a tiny bit more friction by mounting it this way round. I've had no trouble since, but it might not be applicable for everyone. I can't say the same for the rubber eyepiece though, which has me twitching every time the camera comes out of the bag.Dave

Re: Cover for hot-shoe
I'm with Pete Snarr
take it off and throw it in a drawer ... they were used in some old cameras for blanking the eyepiece when in B mode
these days they are of little point unless you plan to leave your camera in the rain to rust

Re: Cover for hot-shoe
Thanks for all the help - this is the first time I've owned a camera with a hot-shoe! I'm happy that I don't need to get hung up on keeping the contact covered up when not in use
I'm a bit obsessive about the lens caps too - have them on a string attached to the camera strap. It's the thought of getting a replacement here at the ends of the earth... but makes changing lenses tricky.Rosemary (EvaWood)
