I've been looking for a suitable radio flash trigger to use with the EM-1 and fl600R and finally went for the Phottix Strato II 5-in-1 Wireless Trigger - Canon .
I've had the chance to do some brief experimentation with the camera set in manual exposure mode and with the flash in A mode and M mode
The good news is that it works and that I am able to get flash sync up to 1/400th sec, above that "shutter black out" becomes apparent from the top of the image.
It also works fine without line of sight (with the camera hidden behind a brick wall in this case and also firing from behind me) as it should
The down-sides?
- EXIF reports that the flash has not fired
- no ttl with the remote flash (which I knew and was fine by me as I prefer to work in manual mode anyway)
on the positive side:
- its seems pretty well made with metal hot-shoes
- uses AAA batteries
- has a pass through hot shoe (supposed to give ttl control of the flash, reportedly with the fl600R but I have yet to confirm that)
- comes with a load of cables to work studio flash heads (yet to check with mine)
- is reasonably cheap, (£99 from WEX)
I'll try to fill in the blanks later when I get a chance to do more testing
