50-200 on E-M1

I have an old copy of the original 50-200 and a MMF-1 adaptor (still waiting for the offer MMF-3), which I have been trying to use for birding with the E-M1. It's pretty good at static or slow moving objects, but seems to struggle with BIF as though it can't quite keep up. It doesn't really like it when I put the EC-14 on as well.

It may be obvious, but can anyone compare how the SWD version does in comparison to the older one? A SWD version is far more affordable than one of the really big 43 lenses (and I presume they don't have SWD motors either, so may have the same issues as my old lens).

Depending on how the answers come back I can see a hire shop application in my future!

I know my friend in Bristol has used his 4/3 lenses with the MMF-2 and had a massive increase in focusing speeed & remaining locked, he now has the MMF-3 & took so good BIF images at Slimbridge last week.
