Re: It's on its way!
Hi Brian. As one of the few people who have managed to get their hands on the HLD-7 grip, what is it like? I assume it doesn't come with a battery? How does it feel when attached to the camera? Etc, etc.Originally posted by bilbo View PostMine arrived just before six o'clock after being out for delivery since 1230.
Battery on charge.
This also applies to anyone else who has managed to secure the two promo items.

Re: It's on its way!
No battery supplied with the HLD-7.
To me, the camera feels too big with the grip attached but that I suspect is because I've been using a E-620 for the last four years. With the exception of depth the E-M1 feels very similar in size to my old camera. In fact as Goldilocks would say - "Just Right"

I have a feeling that it will come into its own when the larger lenses, such as the 50-200, are attached. They should feel better balanced.Originally posted by mcwill View PostTo me, the camera feels too big with the grip attached but that I suspect is because I've been using a E-620 for the last four years. Re: It's on its way!
Sadly others have not been so fortunate even though we ordered, and in my case paid, on the 11th Sept. Orders have clearly not been handled in the sequence they were placed as I have seen evidenced within other threads in this area.Originally posted by Xenon View Post16 arrives with me in Eastbourne, where, understandably, I decide Olympus have finally got their act together and got mine to me two weeks early!
Whilst I have no issues at all with individuals, good luck to them, I do have a major problem with the Olympus shop that has appeared to respond to chasing rather than adopt an open and transparent policy for the order they deal with transactions. I find this along with poor communications, taking money with clearly no idea at the time when an order was going to be satisfied and in my case not even having the common decency to respond to emails highly objectionable, distasteful and dishonourable.
I fully accept that supplies are limited and that I may therefore have to wait. Disappointing but it's the real world. However the evidence I see is that the issue has been dealt with in a less than equitable manner and people who have not been chasing direct have been pushed down the queue. In the currently unlikely event that I shall ever deal with the Oly shop again unless there is no viable alternative I shall take a considerably less sanguine and pragmatic stance.
Money has also been taken at the time of ordering, now over a month ago, with the order confirmation stating 14 days plus 2 - 5 business days for delivery. That part of the contract I have with Olympus has clearly been broken without the common courtesy of an individual contact. Indeed what little information I have had from the Olympus shop has proven to be inaccurate. All good information has come my way via this forum and especially the efforts of Ian.
I may have of course not be in possession of all the salient facts and have therefore jumped to the wrong conclusions. If that is the case I apologise but would point back to one of my complaints, namely that of poor communications, contributing to that incorrect analysis.
I repeat that my rant is not aimed at or intended to criticise individuals who have been more fortunate. Good luck to them in fact and I genuinely hope they are enjoying their camera's and will continue to do so.
To refer back to the trigger for this post Olympus, from my personal perspective at least, have most certainly not got their act together.
An increasingly Grumpy HecI've worked hard to be this grumpy. It hasn't been easy at times but it's worth it.

Re: It's on its way!
Good morning Hec. Just to clarify, I think you might have misinterpreted Xenon's post, as I did at first. I believe he is still waiting for his camera and the post that you quoted was a bit of light-hearted wishful thinking. Of course I might have got hold of the wrong end of the stick. It is not unknown.

Just to clarify, Hec, that I am in reality still awaiting my E-M1, and am in the same situation as you.
My addition to Simon's thread, was by way of wishful thinking, or in jest, and I share many of your frustrations.
I hope that I will be receiving mine in the first week of November, but am less than happy that I have now had to pay my credit card bill, without actually having my hands on the goods.
Any further delays from the promised delivery will require me to consider leaving Olympus and going over to "the dark side'........

I'm glad my irony wasn't totally lost! Unlike Hec I'm just simmering here...and trying to be patient.
Not meaning to suggest Hec isn't being patient either by the way!!

a bit harsh to say patience waning, 'tis true to say that my sense of humour is being tested.
I mean do i spend hard earned good money on a mobile phone for it just to sit there and never ring with SRS
on incoming caller display?
Another week or so and saplings will have to be wary of a Basil Fawlty moment. ring you vicious #######! ring!

Hopefully some of all of what I said in my rant reflects some of your feelings as well.
