  • LCD screen image colour fudginess

Em1mk2 when reviewing images on the LCD screen the colours are to bright and wash into each other especially when magnifying. Tried the pixel mapping but didn’t work. Any suggestions.
    kind regards Mike

Are the colours in the image file OK, or do they match what you see on the screen?

Not sure I can help either way, but it might help to diagnose whether the problem is with the sensor or the display.

Hi John, thanks for the reply.
Images when transferred to computer are correct. The evf is correct wether reviewing or about to take an image. The LCD screen is phycadelic, I can see the image however but with weird colouring they seem all over saturated and run into each other. The LCD screen is ok when in the menu mode?
      kind regards Mike

Unless the LCD settings are wrong, you probably have a failed LCD ribbon cable. You will need to send it in for repair.

Hi growltiger, yes probably so I was thinking of opening the screen to investigate I will see how much a replacement screen is but am dumbfounded why all of a sudden it happened.
              kind regards Mike

I doubt you need a new screen. It is more likely just the ribbon cable.

Don't shred the heads, they need a different type of screwdriver to Pozi or Phillips
Its known as JIS and is used on many Japanese originated electrical items

If it’s working correctly as a “view finder” but not for review then the cable has to be ok. Far more likely to be a setting that’s causing the issue.

                      Try a “Factory RESET”

Hi Graham, the LCD is only ok when in the menu system. Otherwise viewing an image before or after the shot is the same kinda phycadelic? Bit like watching a Pink Floyd light show. But I can see the image ie a bird or tree.
Have done a full reset. I wonder if it could be an update gone wrong I have had the problem for a short while trying to sort it, without making it public as to speak.
                          kind regards Mike.

If you don't want to send it back to Olympus for a check you could try Luton Cameras they are very good for repairs. Or if you can wait till the NEC photo show take it in to the Olympus stand where they do cleaning. If it's a simple fix they may just do it there and then for free. They certainly ought to be able to diagnose it for you.

I would face up to the fact that you have been unlucky and need to get it fixed. They do a good job.
