Thanks. His videos are great. He shows that for BIF it is just a few settings you need right on the OM-1 and the rest is just fiddling around the edges. I must check my release priority setting, can’t remember what it was.

I watched a video recently where they were reviewing zoom lenses for wildlife including the 150-400mm and although they commented favourably on the OM-1 and that lens all their BIF shots were a little OOF and I saw they’d used C-AF+TR with the bird subject. I think it was the Northups channel. I feel these reviewers should watch Mike’s videos to set up the camera correctly!

He is a wise old buzzard really, tells it like it is no fuss or flapping just get on with it, his bird knowledge is amazing and he has a sense of humour , always a good watch. I see on the OM site one of the pros is saying use Bird ID and tracking but most say dont - again conflicting info , I dont use tracking at all.

So this just goes to show that photographer skill is still the biggest part of getting consistent BIF pictures.

better keep practising tracking those bird and keeping lens steady

I watched this as well and till now have tended to use CAF+TKR which I have set up in C1 on the camera . but this morning I just set up another option in AV using mikes recommendations adjusted to the E-M1X and will test on the next trip out ( possibly tomorrow) using iso 1600 and single point to start with just CAF and bird i.d set ,sensitivity set to 0 .. will see how that works out as I wasn't enthralled with yesterdays results..

still paying for my new computer in large lump sums and as soon as that's cleared if no other big bills come in I think I'll go for a OM1

the OM1 handles everything differently to the EM1X , ISO, Focus, Bird ID and tracking in as much as all is improved dramatically, ref ISO I can take pics with the OM1 that I can not with the 1X

Think the weight is starting to become a problem tbh old age brings its own problems with it .

My 1X is now a door stop really, when I got the OM1 you could not get the grip so I had to use it without really thinking I would miss the size and weight but I dont at al so for me no grip needed. The 1X is a good camera the OM1 is an excellent camera- enjoy the jump when you make it
