One of the things that is clear from his video is that settings are generally less critical than on earlier cameras. Providing you've got bird tracking switched on, you're probably going to get decent results. I took about a thousand BiF shots at Bempton Cliffs last week, and there are very very few technical failures.

And in addition to having subject detection turned on, important is to use C-AF and not C-AF+TR. That is fully in line with my own experience.
I also had a discussion with Mike regarding other settings and he replied the following: "I used -2 [AF sensitivity/stickiness] on previous models, but David Smith from OM Digital Solutions has emailed me to say with Subject Detection on it will make little difference. Turn off subject detection and -2 will make a noticeable difference. I have not tried testing with it off, but I am assuming it is correct as it was on previous models."

Thanks for the heads up. I have very similar settings.
I have found the only time to use C-AF+TR is when using subject tracking with video. It is not as good as the stills subject tracking AF but it worked quite well for me on Pine Martens.

If you look at his examples none are in tricky background situations or low light and most are feet down or not small fast and low level shots.Thats why I use Smode, focus limiter,0 sensitivity,no stabilisation, bbf, shutter active ,silent elec shutter 20 max,5cross CAF apart from sky backgrounds. All in vivid.Eye detection off on full bird focus. All main diffrences I can think of at present.I realise I will never be his level or access to his level but the camera works for me on my settings very well especially on flying insects and butterflys etc. Also I hope for LIF this Autumn.
