  • Odd lines in the EVF under certain conditions?

    Hi all

Now I don't recall seeing this/these in the older models, nor can I say I saw them under fw v1.0........but then I was not doing more setup at night.

But following updating to v1.1 and continuing to setup My Menu and other settings, under artificial light, I noticed that if I point the camera into darker areas e.g. my unlit shelf unit and whatever the ISO I can see a pattern of horizontal lines covering the EVF view and they are crisply visible whether I have focused or not, so an 'artifact' on the EVF screen. NB not visible on the LCD rear screen.

Now, when I point the camera at better lit areas the lines are no longer visible!

I wonder has anyone else noticed or can try to see if they 'see' the same effect.

Edit ~ just tried something to see if there was a change ~ in Menu 'gear wheel' > 3 > Night Vision...if set to On the lines disappear. Turn Night Vision 'Off' and the lines are there!

I surmise there is nothing wrong but what is it and why does it do it???

    TIA

I noticed some oddities when Night Vision was turned on, I was using when it was not needed though. Can't remember exactly what the oddity was now ...😕

      Thanks for the reply.

This morning I compared the situation as follows.

The effect I saw, as noted in my OP, was in a darker room with artificial light. The subject I was focusing on was an A3+ pack of Epson paper which is mostly white...at the back of a 50cm deep shelf.....the area was in effect in shadow...the very fine horizontal lines (banding?) were not too surprisingly more noticeable against the white areas.

I then opened the window blind (a north facing room) so the room was flooded with daylight. The lines were gone.

But of note, the ISO was the same so ISO does not appear to be a factor..,...so an odd & inexplicable anomaly ???
