  • E-pm1 upgrade help required

    Hi,

This is my first post after recently joining the group.

I've had one of these for years now and it's been great.

I've got three lenses for it a compatible flash as well as the mini flash. I also have the hot shoe mounted blue tooth 'pen pal'.

However, it's started locking up when shooting and this requires a restart. Also, I don't like the way everything is menu routed.

What would you buy to replace this camera?

Im an occasional user, I go through phases of taking photographs. Sports, stills etc. I don't want to start again, it's important that the lenses I have are compatible. Budget? Definitely £1K< and preferably less than £750.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

    Fraz

You can pick up used EPL cameras for not a lot of money these days. £200 will get you a nice EPL7 or 8. OTOH, an EM 10 mark ii is absolutely superb and can be had for similar money. I have one for sale here in fact if you’re interested.

You’ll get a proper viewfinder with the EM10 as well.

If you really want to spend £750 to £1000 and want new, the EP7 looks a good replacement for a PM1. For that money you could also get an EM10 IV, or even an EM 5 iii. The last is superb - fantastic camera.

Something worth noting is that the flash accessory port was dropped by Olympus on all but the EPL line a little while ago. Not even the EP7 supports it. The EM10 has a built in flash.

Like pdf42 I'd go for the EM10ii. I love mine.

Although you don't say what lenses you have I'd go for Paul's EM10 and use the remaining cash to get some nice glass to go with it. Something like the 12-200 would be a nice do it all solution.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and advise.

PDK I'll be in touch about the camera, if you still have it that is?

                Cheers,

Another vote for the E-M10ii - I replaced my E-PL5 with one and it's fab!
