  • HELP! Printer ink

I use a Canon Pro-10 printer and have only ever used canon inks. But looking at the savings I could make I am tempted to try the compatable inks.

Anyone use compatible inks? From www.cartridgepeople.com.

    Re: Printer ink

The only time I used compatible inks in my HP printer I ended up changing the print heads shortly after - not that supplier as I remember, but I now have a strong aversion to doing so

      Re: Printer ink

Had similar issues as Shenstone but with Epson printer, admittedly some years ago.
Now only use manufacturer inks, besides don't want to have to mess about with profiles.
Personally, I but inks from Cartridge People, not had any issues

        Re: Printer ink

I once read that it was absolutely fine to use good quality compatible inks provided that every third change, you use an OEM cartridge. The reason given was that the OEM inks have additives which help to keep the nozzles clean. I use a Canon MG5350 (5 cartridge) printer and this method has not failed me so far - fingers crossed now I have said that

I've been using compatible inks from 7dayshop on my Canon iP7250 ever since the ones supplied when new ran out - maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I've had no problems whatsoever.

              Re: Printer ink

Tried compatible inks on an Epson a few years ago, very quickly ruined the heads and printer was a write off. The only compatible inks I use now are for my HP 990C which has the heads in each ink cartridge, so can't damage the printer.

I've used compatible inks on an Epson WF 2630 without problems. The software does detect they are not OEM but allows use anyway.

I've had the same experience as Jim with the same printer, although I use Cartridge Save.

Sapper, interesting responses. Might be worthwhile taking further. With the
Canon Pro 10, the print head is a plug-in unit. Worth investigating buying an additional print head for back-up incase compatible inks cause issues.

I use a canon ip4700 pixma printer I use either ink from IJT or 7 dayshop.
I have not had any problems other than after a couple of years use the print head was not operating properly? Replaced it with a new print head from ebay about a year ago still using it and getting good prints and text printing.
Saves quite a bit and if I need a high quality print I source it from a print house.
