Use of Samsung Galaxy tablet for backup on the go

I bought myself a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 just before Christmas. I got a 32gb card for it last week bringing the total memory to 48gb. I would like to use it to back up and view images when I am away from home. I know that I need a cable to allow me to connect directly to my camera or a card reader but I dont know if I need a special app. Has anyone done anything similar and if you have please share your experiences?

Its Android so in principle the supplied file browser should do it. If you don't like it try an alternative from google Play, the app store.

I decided it was easier to put the card into a card reader rather than plug into the camera so I use one like this

There are thousands of alternative suppliers I expect.

The tablet probably takes micro SD so you can't put the card straight in.

Hi I have an android plus blackberry phone, plus a multi card reader, so I can upload my images straight to mega cloud, If I need to empty my card in the field. I have also a raw viewer so I could view my images at full size in HD, before sending to the cloud.

Seems expensive for what it is. Really need to be able to link to both bodies or a card reader. Hadnt thought of using a cloud account.

Does the job though and of course it's an OEM part, plus you also get a USB adapter in the kit.
There are non OEM versions that will do the same if you search around Amazon or eBay.

It worked when I tried it but micro SD is so fiddly I didn't want to use it on a regular basis so I went for the OTG cable plus card reader option and continued with SD cards

I have done this but the app doesn't seem to show any exif info. Is this normal?

Hmm ... I've just tried Rawdroid for the first time in a month. I seem to recall it updated itself. Anyway, it keeps abending so I can't tell if the exif is shown or not!

I am thinking of going down this route with an tablet and my e5. Not sure if they would work with an sd- cf adaptor

this is what i've thought also. After reading the eye-fi web, there is an option of our camera body....i did checked epl2 supported but no further info for e3, from others forums i've read there is someone who using e3 and the sd-cf adapter had succesfully working out
