  • Cuba 156 - Churros

Churros are made from a doughnut type thick batter extruded into boiling oil then cut into lengths and served from a paper cone with a flavour added.

    Old surgical scissors work wonders!

    A post school treat.

Nothing at all in them to hurt you! Very Low Cal.

Looks like the upmarket end of town, Andrew! Anything to turn a dollar, eh?

Yes, well spotted Keith! This on Obispo the main tourist street in Old Havana. To be honest, on certain parts of it you could think you were anywhere.

Did you get to try any "Street" food.

When we went to Tijuana, the guide told us we may die (or wish too) if we ate the street food...

No, much for the same reason, with the exception of the Coppelia ice-cream that is!

Ice cream is said to be one of the most dangerous foods for bugs, Andrew!! In the water, the milk, and the other ingredients - all different varieties! E Coli, botulism, salmonella.......

I remember an American colleague telling us that we didn't want to eat ANY food prepared in Mexico by the locals - they always got their hands into it, whatever it was, said he, and he reckoned they weren't too particular 'down there' at washing their hands.......

All part of life's rich tapestry, eh?

Thankfully I survived to tell the tale!
