  • Cuba 115 - Faro Castillo del Morro Lighthouse

The current lighthouse was added in 1846 although the fort dates back to 1589. It is a working lighthouse but you can go up to the top, which is a real squeeze, and climb all over it! The condition is variable, but the actual light part does work! The curtains help to keep the lighthouse keeper just a little cooler in his glass box.

    Good protection.

    Rust and graffiti.

Glass (!) is cleaned from the rusty, railless walkway.

    Under the dome.

Can I go up the dangerous, rickety old ladder with no safety rails? Yes of course I can, it's Cuba! That will be 1 CUC!

    Chromatic aberration of a Vivitar.

Another great Cuba set. The insides certainly look claustrophobic.

Very nice set of images. I don't think "maintenance" has a Spanish/Cuban translation, by the look of it! The gun looks in better condition than the lighthouse......!
