The Yogi Berra quote came to mind as this scene unfolded every time I walked down O'Reilly and looked through the "window" (there was no glass, just a shutter as with many caribbean houses) of what appeared to be an artist's studio. I imagined the woman to be the artist's mother, he, in his 40's, painting and drawing what appear to be very naive pictures. I saw him once, straining with concentration as he perfected his latest work. The two photos below were taken 13 days apart, one in the morning and one in the night. The only difference was a change in footwear and the addition of a cigar.

Amazing how little had changed in two weeks!John

He was probably as busy as the road sweeper, John.....Originally posted by Zuiko View PostAmazing how little had changed in two weeks!
The old lady hadn't moved much, either. I wonder how many artworks he sold? (Or perhaps that wasn't the idea) The pieces on the large board seemed to have changed, so perhaps he did sell some!

Tourists, I should think. Can't imagine locals would have enough spare dosh. And of course, tourists can be conned into believing they are special and then ripped off, can't they?Originally posted by Beagletorque View PostWell spotted Keith! One added in the gap and the bottom one gone, but I can't imagine who would have bought it.

On our (American) cruise ship, we were quite surprised what other passengers bought (especially N American ones!) and the prices they paid. And that included an art auction. 2 + 2 = 4, d'you think?
