  • Cuba 83 - Jardin Botanico

There is a wonderful, small, private Botanical Garden at one end of Vinales village and well worth a visit if you go there. It is about the only "attraction" in the village and is stocked with all sorts of plans and fruits and I can personally vouch for the plentiful opportunities to photograph a perched hummingbird too!

Dodge past the one eyed dog, but don't bang your head!

    Coco pods.

About 12" long and brown when ripe. The little white flowers just seem to pop out of the thick trunk.

    I should have made notes.

    Snake Cactus.

    Red flower!

    Jackfruit.

    Another red flower!

A lizard trying to blend in.

    Star fruit.

Another red flower! Perhaps some sort of fig?

Inside the owner's cottage with an eclectic collection of knick knacks.

Decorated with newspaper cuttings and religious statuary. Note the owner in the large frame.

And the hummingbird shot I took there too!

    The jackfruit is bizarre!

The lizard looks like a Green Anole. Nice little creatures!
